The modern economy runs on software. The software that powers our daily lives also is subject to cyber threats, however. Now, more than ever, these cyber threats are accompanied by significant legal risks. Regulators and other policy makers around the world increasingly are prescribing specific legal requirements for the development and maintenance of software, particularly when used in critical infrastructure. The software development lifecycle consequently is now subject to new levels of legal scrutiny—and corresponding risk.
In the first program of our Cybersecurity Awareness month webinar series, we will discuss trends in legal expectations for software security and what they mean for businesses. We will particularly focus on developments in the United States and the European Union that are relevant to companies that develop software, including for internal use, as well as to companies that purchase software for use in their own businesses.
