Mayer Brown advised Interchile in a $1.2 billion project and green bond refinancing, which was named “ESG Deal of the Year” by LatinFinance and “Latin America Power and Overall Latin America” deal by Proximo.
Mayer Brown represented Interchile, a subsidiary of Colombia's Interconexión Eléctrica, in the issuance of the project/green bonds. The proceeds were used to repay the syndicated loan facility that funded the construction of the issuer’s Chilean transmission portfolio (which syndicated facility itself was led by Banking & Finance partner Christopher Erckert and was named “Best Power Financing” deal by LatinFinance in 2016), pay hedge termination costs related thereto and for other corporate purposes. The project/green bond legal team also was led by Mr. Erckert and included: Corporate & Securities – partner David Bakst, Tax Transactions & Consulting – partner Jared Goldberger, Banking & Finance – counsel Pamela Sackman and associate Daniel Albarran Garcia; and Capital Markets – associates Julien Appollon and Kwaku Osebreh.
