Tauil & Chequer Advogados advises Eletrobras on the sale of 13 thermoelectric plants to Âmbar Energia
Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown advised Eletrobras, through its subsidiaries Eletronorte and Furnas, on the sale of the remaining portion of its thermoelectric power plant portfolio to Âmbar Energia, a company belonging to the J&F group, in an operation involving R$ 4.7 billion, with the payment of R$1.2 billion being conditional on future events.
The agreement involves 13 thermoelectric plants in different states. For Âmbar, the operation marks a diversification of business into two new states and brings its installed capacity to 4.6 gigawatts of power; while for Eletrobras, the operation represents the continuity of its decarbonization project.
The team included partners Alexandre Chequer, Bruno Salzano and Débora Yanasse, as well as associates Lucas Zamproni, Maurício Veiga, Luisa Tortolano Barreto and Rebeca Liareno, from the Energy and M&A area.
