Jonathan S. Klein

Jonathan Klein advises clients on minimizing enterprise risk and represents clients in complex commercial litigation, especially class actions, antitrust disputes, and significant contract and other commercial disputes. Clients also rely on Jonathan to assist with internal investigations, especially involving antitrust and trade-secret issues. Before joining Mayer Brown, Jonathan served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Steven D. Merryday in the Middle District of Florida, where Jonathan helped manage a varied docket that included contract, consumer protection, antitrust, and other disputes.

Commercial Litigation

• Defending a European manufacturer of electric vehicles against a former director’s contract claims and developing trade-secret misappropriation counterclaims based on documents uncovered in discovery. The action resolved shortly after the US District Court for the Northern District of California denied a motion to dismiss the trade-secret counterclaims.
• Defending a leading developer of skincare products against breach of contract, fraud, and trade-secret misappropriation claims over the alleged misappropriation of training technology for medical professionals.

Class Actions

• Defending food and beverage manufacturers and consumer-goods companies against false advertising claims involving a variety of products, including pet foods, snack bars, and baking ingredients.
• Defending a prominent electric scooter company against several ADA and public-nuisance class actions across several jurisdictions, winning dismissal or significantly narrowing the actions through early motions practice.

Antitrust

• Defending a major software company against claims that it allegedly conspired to increase the price of data services.
• Assisting clients in several industries in responding to government investigations, including by helping prepare senior executives to sit for questioning.
