Mayer Brown was honored by New York-based nonprofit The Children's Village (CV) at the organization’s annual gala. The firm was recognized for its longstanding partnership with CV. This partnership includes providing financial support, pro bono services, and the implementation of an innovative mentoring program.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by an organization that means so much to our Mayer Brown community,” said Matthew Ingber, the managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “This recognition reaffirms our commitment to the well-being and empowerment of our community’s youngest members. We are inspired to continue our dedicated efforts towards their growth and success.”

The firm established its partnership with the organization a decade ago, and soon thereafter stepped in to handle a complex transactional pro bono matter.

In 2022, Mayer Brown launched its annual education-related mentoring program in collaboration with CV as part of the firm’s racial and social justice initiative, Project Equity. Education equity serves as a core pillar under this initiative. The innovative mentoring program pairs a team consisting of one Mayer Brown business services staff member and one lawyer with a mentee who is receiving services through CV or one of its partner organizations. This program promotes community-oriented civic engagement in an impactful and meaningful way, thereby transforming the lives of both mentees and mentors.

Founded in 1851, CV is committed to supporting the wellbeing of children, teens, and families by advocating for, strengthening, and reuniting families; building community partnerships; creating innovative programs; and connecting people to resources that focus on equity, basic needs, and human rights. CV’s mission and impact are carried out through more than 27 programs that serve over 20,000 youth and families a year. CV's work is implemented through focused support strategies: prevention of child and family separation, temporary supports for youth who cannot remain with family; support for youth development and transition; and a wide array of community-based programming and services—all provided with the goal of instilling the skills needed for family preservation, academic achievement, employment readiness, and day-to-day life.
